The Saratoga May Day Tournament was a success for the U14 Boys squad.
Coaches Wattie and Nickson had the Boys fired up in game one against the Northern dominators. The final was 2-1 BSpa with goals by Jack Lay and Josiah Harmon. The defensive backfield consisting of Dylan Nickson, Alex Bailey, Will Frankford, and Brady Glastetter was stout after giving up an early goal putting us down 1-0. Hudson Seplowitz, Zack Weed, Ryan Hathaway, and Jake Nagengast did a great job in the midfield to help secure the victory.
Day two was a bit of a struggle against Force FC with the Boys going down 4-0 after getting in a hole 2-0 on the first half, despite the 4 goals Justin Miller did a great job in goal, as he did all tournament, making big saves after we lightened the defense to try and get on the scoreboard.
Day three brought two hard fought battles against The Fusion and Saratoga/Wilton with both games ending in a 1-1 tie. In game one the boys went down 1-0 and battled back with a goal by Max LaVoie on a beautiful cross from Jack Lay. Shaun Rask, Devon Dugan, Max Gorman, and Nick Glastetter worked the ball all around the field creating numerous opportunities for us to win the game and we were just missing. Sam Ness played defense for the first time this year and did an excellent job in the backfield. In game two the role was reversed with us going up 1-0 on a goal by Evan Wattie on a great pass from Ryan Hathaway only to see Saratoga/Wilton even the score midway through the second half. Both teams battled to the end which made it such an exciting game to watch.
Could not have asked for a better weekend of soccer, and we, the coaches are so proud of the boys and thankful for all the support the parents give us. Great Job BSpa.
