Ballston Spa Soccer Club's U12 Girls Socceroos defeated NYEFC U12 Girls in the Championship Game to win the Clifton Park Fall Classic Tournament over Columbus Day weekend. The team played with incredible pride and intensity all weekend with an overall record of 4-1.

On Saturday, the Socceroos played three games against NYEFC, Galway and Clifton Park. The Socceroos did start the day with a loss to NYEFC where NYEFC scored in the first minute of the game and rode that momentum to a win. After suffering their first loss of the fall season to that point, the team bounced back nicely with decisive wins over Galway and Clifton Park to finish the day 2-1, good for the 2nd overall seed in Sunday's games.

On Sunday, the Socceroos played the 3rd seed, Galway and won that game 7-0 to earn the right to play NYEFC in the championship game. Galway started the game with a great intensity in the early game on Sunday morning, however began to waver after going down a couple of goals midway through the first half. The Galway coach was very complementary of our team saying that we play the game with the right level of physicality and intensity.

The passionate parents, fans and even other teams looked on to witness an incedibly competitive championship game against NYEFC. Ayla Hathaway scored the only goal late in the first half in a 1-0 nail-biting victory. The game played by the Socceroos was a total team effort as they played as a cohesive unit, maintaining possession for most of the game on the offensive side of the field. Caleigh Richards and McKenna Szmarz played the entire game on defense to thwarts many of the break aways and threats by NYEFC. So much so, that Caleigh Richards was selected by the opposing coach as the MVP for the game. Clifton Park's tournament director, Cassidy Jones, was also very complementary of both teams and how they played today during the presentation of the awards.

All of the players deserve honorable mention and played fantastic games: Grace Ahl, Mia Collins, Zoe Datka, Emma Durant, Emma Ewen, Mya Fenlon, Ayla Hathaway, Adia Hunter, Avery Hunter, Mariah Nowicki, Caleigh Richards, Sophia Sacci, McKenna Szmarz, & Ava Taylor.
